Mülsen for the second time: DKM enters hot phase of the season (2024)

First preliminary decisions possible in several classes. Participants start again in the Arena E in Mülsen after the start of the season. Once again full fields with 197 participants in six classes.

The German Kart Championship returns to the Arena E in Mülsen for the penultimate round. The drivers were already guests at the race track near Zwickau at the start of the season. A lot has happened since then, and preliminary decisions in the title fight could be made in several classes. The events on Saturday (12:20 pm) and Sunday (9:30 am) will be streamed live online at adac.de/motorsport and on the ADAC Motorsport YouTube channel.

After an icy and rainy start to the season in April, the German Kart Championship can now look forward to a midsummer event in Mülsen. 197 drivers will tackle the fifth round of the championship. The title fights in the individual predicates will take centre stage, with several overall leaders able to enter the DKM Hall of Fame early, taking into account the scratch results.

Stan Pex (SP Motorsport) has been leading the overall standings of the German Kart Championship since the start of the season and has since extended his lead to 52 points. However, his rival Markus Kajak (Maranello SRP Factory Team) does not want to let the leader go so easily. He won in Wackersdorf and the Estonian also collected plenty of points in Kerpen. Third-placed Christiaan de Kleijn (CRG Holland) also still has a small chance of winning the title after Pex and Kajak were knocked out of the top field in Kerpen due to a collision, allowing Kleijn to celebrate his first victory.

Moritz Groneck (CRG Holland) has a similar cushion to Pex in the juniors. The youngster still has a score to settle with the 1,315 metre long track in Saxony. He has crossed the finish line as the winner in every race so far, but lost it again at the start of the season in Mülsen due to a time penalty. He can now put that right with a triumph and thus take a pioneering step towards winning the title. Amin Kara Osman and reigning champion Luke Kornder (both Forza Racing) can still challenge him for the title.

Milan Rossi (Lanari Racing Team) is clearly on course for the title in the German Mini Kart Championship. The driver from Saarland has scored maximum points in the first four races and no longer has to risk everything in the remaining rounds. If he has a lead of more than 76 points after the weekend in Mülsen, the title can no longer be taken away from him. Maximilian Schleimer (Maranello SRP Factory Team) has a similarly comfortable points cushion in the DMSB Shifter Kart Cup. The rookie was rewarded with a victory at the season opener in Mülsen after a strong fightback and has extended his lead in the overall standings to 74 points. Only a complete retirement would bring his pursuers Claudia Henning and Dion van Werven back within striking distance.

In contrast, the battle in the X30 Junior is completely open: Marius Bonconseil (Ebert Motorsport) replaced Lars Ramaer (SIM-ON) at the top of the standings with a victory in Kerpen. A wafer-thin gap between the two now promises a thrilling final phase. Elia Weiss (SIM-ON) can take a more relaxed approach in the X30 Senior. He has won the last three weekends, putting him 78 points ahead of fellow ADAC Sports Foundation protégé Phil Colin Strenge (Ebert Motorsport). If Weiss doesn't do much more wrong, the title can no longer be taken away from him either. The fight for the runner-up spot is much closer - second to fourth place is separated by just seven points.
